Project: Fujitsu Fit-out
Steel-Stairs were contracted to FDC Constructions to complete the staircases in the new Fujitsu office fit out, located at Talavera Rd, Macquarie Park. The project consisted of 2 sets of stairs running from Ground Level to Level 2 and Level 2 to Level 4, a total of 4 stairs connecting 5 levels.
The stairs were installed over several weeks, with Steel-Stairs completing the structure and finishes; as well as coordinating with other trades in particular the LED lighting, Fire Sprinkler and concrete contractors.
Installation of the stairs was a challenge overcome by using a method of craning each stair in as a complete unit. They were trolleyed across the penetration and lifted into place using a portable gantry crane.
Stainless steel rods hanging from the ceiling were used to support the stairs mid span. The rods had to be imported specially from England for this project. American Oak Timber was the chosen finish for the treads and risers, which was procured and installed by Steel-Stairs. A closed riser design was used giving a clean, refined finish.
The balustrading and handrails for the stairs and void were made from mild steel vertical rods which had to be done to exacting precision. Timber grab rails were then attached on the staircase handrails. The stringers are made from mild steel and coated in electrostatic paint. The feature stairs have an Alpolic soffit made with shadow lines for LED lighting. The floors are finished with polished concrete meaning there was no room for any normal construction tolerances which meant that precision was vital.
The stair cases ended up looking stunning, and Steel-Stairs are pleased to add it to their portfolio.
